At the front of our house is a really cool patio-type area that is built up of sand, flagstone, and landscaping blocks. It was on that space that Mrs. Kim wanted her big cement birdbath. When we were moving from Charleston, that thing was one of the last things I got. I kept hoping my wife would forget it. Why? THAT THING IS HEAVY! She didn’t forget it. But, deep down inside I didn’t really mind because I did enjoy watching birds frolic in the water of the bird-bath.
Recently, on one of our hot, summer days I was walking through our dining room and looked out the window as the sun beat down outside. My grass I’d been doctoring was nice, plush and green. The rose bushes I’d been nurturing had pink, red, and white roses shining brightly in the sun. There on the patio sat the bird-bath dry as a desert. That’s when I sensed the voice of Holy Spirit speaking to me: “A lot of Christians are like that bird-bath. They have no water.” Whoa. That bird-bath was not fulfilling it’s purpose. It needed fresh water for the little birds to drink from and play in.

I normally like to reserve this space in the bulletin to give a thought that will propagate more thought or enlighten you to somewhere I feel God may be nudging us toward. However, today, I just want to share my heart with you and say, “THANK YOU.”
First, “THANK YOU” for loving me and my family and blessing us in so many ways. You, as a church, have given Kim, the kids, and I gifts, hugs, notes, emails, and a plethora of tokens of encouragement, love, and support. I want you to know without a doubt that we are eternally grateful to you for your love, kindness, and generosity.
