The Pastor’s Quill
November 15, 2009
For over a year now I have been reiterating things like “fundamentals” and “simplicity.” Some may think I have nothing more to say. Some may be catching on to the providential wisdom I have been attempting to share. To live the fullest of the Christian life does not take a lot of knowledge, energy, or effort. In fact, the deeper one delves into it the more simple it becomes. Consider your physical body. When is the last time you have really thought upon your respiratory systems or your digestive system or even your circulatory system? At any given point in the past several days, have you stopped and focused on HELPING you lungs absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide? Have you looked down at your tummy and concentrated on HELPING it break down that piece of yummy cake? Have you listened to your heart beat and pondered all the miles and miles of blood vessels, arteries, and capillaries that your heart is pressing those millions of blood cells through? Here’s my point: THOSE ARE AMAZING FEATS HAPPENING EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY AND THEY HAPPEN RATHER EFFORTLESSLY ON YOUR PART. Our bodies are finely programmed, highly efficient machines. We truly are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Our walk with Christ can operate in much the same way. Our relationship with Him should become such an integral part of us that it “just happens.” Not that it is something to be neglected, but that it is so preciously guarded and nurtured and so much an aspect of our daily lives that it becomes “second nature.” This walk with the King of Glory is not easy. However, this thing is NOT hard. Walk with God. Talk with Him every day through prayer. Worship Him daily. Meditate on His Word daily. Fellowship with other members of the Body of Christ daily. Again, this thing is NOT hard!!!!!! Just do it, and after a while, you’ll be amazed at HOW it just SIMPLY happens. God bless!
