This past Wednesday Night’s Bible Study was very different. I just felt like God was going to do something different. I was really drawn into secret places of worship in the Lord all last week. So, on that night as we were worshipping before the time to teach, I just sensed the Lord say, “Pray for people… lay hands on them. Declare My Word over them.”
simply said, “We’re going to do things differently tonight. If you want prayer, come to the altar.” WOW. Everyone HURRIED to the altar. The front of the church was packed with two lines of people.
laid hands on those who wanted prayer and prophesied the Word of the Lord however He directed. I knew the Lord wanted something “DIFFERENT” on that night. He sometimes blows our ORDER out the window so we won’t get into RUTS. No ruts allowed!
If you think God will do everything the “same” way every time, then don’t be amazed when He totally orchestrates something out of the ordinary. If you lack expectation because things tend to “go as planned” so often, then you may want to perk up your spiritual ears a little more. I feel there are going to be seasons of Holy Spirit-filled invasion where He will move totally out of the ordinary.
There is a little proverb that says, “Variety is the spice of life.” We, as humans, have a tendency to fall into ruts when it comes to “church.” Then, if we allow, God in His great grace and might swoops in and blows us out of the water. Those are certainly times of refreshing. We can pray and hope for them, but we don’t know WHEN they will happen. But, beloved friends, happen they shall. We have to be ready. That’s why we, as believers, should come expecting EVERY time we gather in a corporate gathering to worship our KING!
